“Yes! Akila rice products are naturally gluten-free, as rice does not contain gluten. However, we always recommend checking the packaging for any allergen or manufacturing information, especially for consumers with severe intolerances.”
“Akila Sella Basmati rice is generally considered a lower GI option compared to many other rice varieties because of its parboiled processing and basmati grain structure. GI can vary depending on cooking method and portion size, so we recommend pairing it with fibre-rich foods for balanced meals.”
Rinsing removes excess surface starch, which helps produce fluffier, less sticky rice. Some specialty rice varieties may require different preparation methods, so always check the cooking instructions.
For the best quality and enjoyment, we recommend cooking only the amount of rice you need and enjoying it fresh. If you have leftovers, cool the rice as soon as possible after cooking and store it in a covered container in the refrigerator. Before consuming, always check that it has been stored correctly and reheat it thoroughly until piping hot
Yes. If you choose to freeze cooked rice, allow it to cool promptly after cooking, then transfer it to an airtight, freezer-safe container. When you’re ready to enjoy it, thaw and reheat the rice thoroughly until piping hot before serving. For the best taste and texture, we recommend enjoying freshly cooked rice whenever possible.

“Thank you for letting us know – that doesn’t sound right. Our rice should have a clean, natural aroma. Sometimes strong odours can come from improper storage conditions or external contamination after opening. Please contact us with the batch number on the pack so our quality team can assist you further.”
“Jasmine rice is naturally softer and slightly sticky due to its starch amylopectin content. The amylopectin presence and in high concentrations in the Jasmine rice creates a stickier, softer texture. The final texture upon cooling should be less sticker. For fluffier results, we recommend: Rinsing the rice 2–3 times before cooking Rinsing the rice until the water runs completely clear. Using slightly less water than usual. Follow the standard ratio of 1:2 [1 part rice to 2 parts water] Letting it rest for 5–10 minutes after cooking”
“Soft is characteristic to Jasmine rice. Mushy rice usually happens when too much water is used or it’s cooked for too long. Try: Reducing the water ratio slightly Cooking on low heat once boiling Avoiding over-stirring while cooking For desirable results, please follow the provided cooking instrucitons on the pack.”
Store rice in a cool, dry place in an airtight container after opening to help keep it fresh and protect it from moisture.
Sticky rice is a result of improper cooking method – overcooking using too much water, not rinsing the rice beforehand, or choosing a variety with low- amylose which cooks soft, moist and has sticky texture.
Each variety of rice has its own unique characteristics, including its texture, aroma, grain size, and cooking qualities. These differences influence how the rice cooks, tastes, and pairs with different dishes. While some varieties are perfect for curries, others are better suited to stir-fries, sushi, risotto, or everyday family meals. Choosing the right rice helps you achieve the best flavour and texture for every recipe.
“Jasmine rice has a naturally soft and delicate texture, which means it can become too soft if slightly overcooked or if too much water is used. For best results: Use carefully measured water Avoid overcooking Keep the heat low once boiling Serve soon after cooking for the best texture”

Store sugar in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to prevent moisture from causing it to harden.
Brown sugar naturally contains molasses, which can dry out over time. Keeping it sealed in an airtight container helps maintain its softness.
Our rice, beans, lentils, and popcorn kernels are naturally suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets. Always check the packaging for the latest ingredient information.
Most of our rice, beans, and lentils are naturally gluten-free. However, if this is important for your dietary needs, always refer to the packaging for the most up-to-date allergen information.
Each product has a best-before date printed on the packaging. When stored correctly, products remain at their best until this date.
A best-before date refers to quality rather than safety. If the product has been stored correctly and shows no signs of spoilage, it may still be suitable to use. Always inspect it before cooking.
